SRINAGAR: A court in Srinagar Saturday directed the medical board to immediately carry out the ossification test of a ‘juvenile’, accused in a murder case, to determine his age.
The Additional Sessions Judge, Naseer Ahmed Dar had ordered the ossification test two times in the past, but after being told that the test was yet to be carried out, the court passed the order so that court “can proceed through a fair trial”.
The juvenile along with two others is accused of murdering one Mehraj-ud-din Bhat of Kralyar Rainawari in 2015 for money.
An FIR, 149/2015, under section 302, 392, 34,201 RPC is registered in Police Station Sadder against three accused Mohammad Khalil Najar alias Yawar, Eycon Parvaiz (Juvenile) and Mehraj –ud-din Dar alias makoda.
According to case records, Mehraj-ud-din’s body was retrieved from a drain on August 30, 2015.
The post mortem report stated the cause of death as strangulation and suffocation, and the body had multiple ligature marks on neck and other places. According to police, on August 29 the victim had taken a lift in a Suv (Tavera) at Dalgate in which he was strangulated by the three accused for money. Police investigation says the accused strangulated the victim with shoes laces, while the juvenile accused took out his undershirt and put it on victim’s mouth to choke him.
Till now prosecution has sought 38 witnesses in the case.
