CM Mehbooba approves state’s first-ever cricket academy

Srinagar: In a first of its kind, the State Government of Jammu & Kashmir has given a go ahead to the state cricket academy at Srinagar’s Bakshi stadium, a report said.
Chief Minister , Mehbooba Mufti and Minister for Youth Service and Sports Imran Raza Ansari, approved the decision to start the state’s first cricket academy.
“Cricket academy for state’s budding cricketers was long overdue. This state of the art academy will give fillip to cricketing activities and help many deserving to build career under the watch of professional trainers and coaches,” Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who is also president of J&K state Sports Council said.
The cricket academy will also help in streamlining state wide cricketing activities and provide opportunity to talented cricketers across the state.
Sport Ministeri, hoped that such platforms will also help in nurturing the talent at the grassroots level while building their capacity and skill sets at a young age to compete at regional and national levels.
“It is hoped that the academy will attract many up and coming cricketers to showcase their talent and hone their skills,” Ansari said.
State’s top cricketers and sports lovers have hailed the government’s decision of setting up of states cricket academy.
