Ganderbal: Scores of students from Boys Secondary School Sumbal Gund in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Wednesday staged a protest against transfer of their “favourite teacher” from the school.
The students boycotted their classes and blocked the busy highway demanding return of the mathematics teacher, Hilal Ahmad Mir, to the school
“The education department has shifted our teacher to other school. We had a good bonding with him and he taught us in a way nobody can match,” the students said.
The other students said they were not able to cope up with the new teacher’s style of explaining.
Later ZEO Hariganiwan Abdul Rehim and Headmaster of the institution reached the spot and pacified the protesters. After the assurance the students dispersed peacefully and traffic was restored on the highway.
ZEO Abdul Rahim Magrey told Kashmir Reader that Hilal was deputed last year on temporary basis to the school. “But as he was a ReT teacher, we deployed him back to his original place of posting at MS Hilpatti, so now we can’t depute him again here”
Deputy CEO Ganderbal Nazir Ahmad said that there was no shortage of staff in the school.
“we have issued an explanation to the concerned headmaster of the school, as he wants the staff of his choice at the school.”
