Srinagar: Intense clashes between government forces and students erupted in Pulwama town of south Kashmir on Wednesday.
Earlier, the students of Government Degree College Pulwama held massive protests inside the college premises raising Pakistani flags and chanting pro-freedom slogans, local sources said.
They said that police did not went near the college however the students later marched upto the Murran chowk of the town where a heavy contingent of police stopped their march.
Sources said that angry students pelted stones on forces who retaliated with tear smoke shells.
They added that soon the shopkeepers pulled down their shutters as the clashes intensify and spread.
Pertinently, at least 60 students were injured in force’s action in the same college on April 15. Since then student protests are order of the day in Kashmir.
