SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference (G) on Saturday termed the statement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that ‘army saved lives during Kashmir floods’ as a “brazen lie”.
In a statement issued here, Hurriyat said “not a single person was rescued by Indian forces who took away a big share of state budget for helicopter services provided to its army personnel”.
“Indian forces inflicted atrocities to people in state and never treated them as humans. The misleading statement of Modi was issued at a time when its forces are thrashing youth and using them as human shields. The video clips are uploaded on social media to create fear psychosis,” the conglomerate said, adding, “The statement is a deliberate attempt to cover up the war crimes committed by Indian forces.”
“Indian army during 2014 deluge rescued and airlifted families of the government forces, tourists, and some non-state Hindus but they didn’t show any kind of sympathy with the local people. At few places, they dropped some expired biscuit packets among people and later on grabbed a hefty amount as service charges from local administration,” Hurriyat said.
The amalgam said stone pelting is resentment against “bullet and pellet policy”. “People are being killed, blinded, and maimed. India through its colonial mindset continues its occupation and its forces are carrying genocide under a well-thought-out design,” it said.
