No PRCs for Beerwah applicants!

ISHFAQ RESHI
BUDGAM: The din on J&K Public Service Guarantee Act has become meaningless for hundreds of people in Beerwah locality of Budgam district as applications for Permanent Resident Certificates are pending for three months at sub-divisional magistrate’s office. Under the PSGA, the certificate has to be issued within 30 days.
Locals said around a thousand applications seeking PRC were pending disposal for the last three months because the SDM has not been given powers to issue the vital document. The last officer who manned the chair with powers retired from government service. The PRCs are issued under the signature of deputy commissioner.
Syed Mudasir of village Poshker has applied for PRC two months back while Aqib of village Wadwan has applied one and half months back. Similarly, Bilal of Beerwah applied two months back.
“The lackadaisical attitude of the authorities has cost me dearly as I missed the chance to appear in the common entrance test for want of the certificate,” said an applicant, adding, “I came here dozens of times but every time have to go back disappointed.”
