Police doing contrary to court orders: Jama’at

Srinagar: Veteran 80 years old Jama’at-e-Islami activist from Sopore Sheikh Mohammad Yousuf has again been detained under the draconian law of Public Safety Act (PSA), a statement said on Thursday.
He was apprehended by police station Sopore August 2016 and on 10th of August 1st detention order was imposed upon him and kept in district jail Kupwara. Jama’at said.
The high court quashed his detention but the police quite contrary to the court orders kept him in police station Sopore and on Nov 24, 2016 he was again detained under Public Safety Act. This order was also quashed but the detenue was again shifted to police station Sopore and on 18th of March, 2017, 3rd detention order was passed and he was taken to Baramullah Jail.
Jama’at said that another activist of Jama’at from Kader village of Kulgam Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Kuchay is languishing in police station Kulgam and is not being released despite bail order from the court.
Moreover other political detenues and prisoners who because of their support to the Kashmir cause are languishing in different jails for years together.
Jama’at-e-Islami demanded unconditional release of all detainees and political prisoners including those youth who are languishing in jails and police stations on the allegations of stone-pelting during the protests.
