Shopian: Army on Wednesday allegedly ransacked private property in Chakoora village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district. Locals alleged that ransacking of their residential houses by army is happening frequently. They demanded government’s intervention.
A group of villagers told Kashmir Reader that after damaging parked vehicles and windowpanes of several houses on Saturday, the army troopers again swooped on the locality and damaged windowpanes of a residential house and a ransacked a shop.
“We demand justice. Why are the troopers ransacking our property and harassing people when there has been no incident of stone pelting or any other provocation.
Defence spokesman Rajesh Kalia denied the allegation saying no army trooper was involved in the incident of damaging property.
