SRINAGAR: Paying tributes to a prominent pro-freedom personality S Hameed on his 19th anniversary, Hurriyat Conference (M) on Tuesday said it is the joint responsibility of people and resistance leadership to take forward the struggle with commitment and resolve till it reaches its logical conclusion.
In a statement issued here, the Hurriyat while highlighting the contributions of S Hameed towards the movement said, “S Hameed played an instrumental role in forming the APHC. Kashmir was standing at a crucial juncture and it is essential that everybody should have complete resolve and uniformity of approach towards the Kashmir struggle. That would be the best tribute to the Shaheed leader.”
Meanwhile, a delegation of Hurriyat and Awami Action Committee (AAC) led by youth president Mushtaq Ahmad Sofi held a prayer session at ‘martyrs’ graveyard’ Eidgah where they paid tributes to S Hameed and other martyrs. A special prayer meeting was also held at Hurriyat headquarters Rajbagh wherein Hurriyat activists, workers and leaders participated.
Another Hurriyat delegation led by Mushtaq Ahmad Sofi visited the SMHS hospital and inquired about the well-being of the students who were injured on Monday.
On the direction of conglomerate’s chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, one more delegation headed by senior leader GN Zaki visited the house of Sajad Ahmad Sheikh in Tangmarg and expressed solidarity and sympathy with the bereaved family.
Mirwaiz also talked to the bereaved family by phone. While expressing condolences, he told the family that entire Kashmir stands with them in this time of grief and agony. He also prayed for the deceased soul and said “the mission for which the martyrs are laying their lives would be taken to logical conclusion”.
