Sopore: Five shops were damaged in a massive fire that engulfed a market place in north Kashmir’s Sopore town on Monday morning. Three shops perished completely while two others were partially damaged in the incident at Teliyan Mohalla, Arampora area.
Locals said that the devastating fire broke out at around 3:30 am and resulted into complete damage of three shops. Two other shops were saved after the fire tenders arrived at the scene. The damaged shops belonged to Ghulam Hasaan Dar, Abdul Majeed Dar, Mohammad Sultan Malik, Bashir Ahmed and Attaullah Dar.
Eyewitnesses told Kashmir Reader that the incident appears to be handiwork of robbers because merchandise was found stolen from several gutted shops.
There was no report of any casualty in the fire. Meanwhile Sopore police told Kashmir Reader that they have registered a report and further investigation has been started.
