Shopian: Army on Saturday thrashed four boys and damaged windowpanes of residential houses and vehicles in Chakoora village of Shopian.
According to locals, as soon as the army reached the village they indiscriminately started damaging property and thrashing people who were present there. “We were playing volleyball and army soldiers came there and beat our fellow players. Though there was no stone throwing going on,” said a resident Amir Suhail.
“Soldiers entered in our house courtyards and started damaging windowpanes of our houses and parked vehicles. They also abused us,” said a woman pleading anonymity because of fear of reprisal.
Army Srinagar-based Defence spokesman Rajesh Kalia denied the allegation saying, “no army soldier is involved in the incident”.
