Police foils Rasheed’s Badami Bagh March

“Using human shields not a new phenomenon”
Srinagar: Police and government forces foiled a protest march by Awami Ittehad Party led by MLA Langate Er Rasheed to Badami Bagh cantonment on Saturday.
The march was carried out to protest against the incident of using a youth as a human shield by army, and for beating another Pulwama youth to “shameful level of brutality” and other “atrocities”, a statement issued by the AIP said.
Police used force to disperse the march and arrested some of the protestors including Rasheed and lodged them in police station Ram Munshi Bagh, the statement said.
Farooq Ahmad Dar, 27, was strapped to an army vehicle and paraded in a dozen villages on April 9 in Budgam district.
The protestors lead by Rasheed started their march from Sonwar and were shouting slogans, “Human Shield Down Down” “UN wakeup” and  “Nayee Delhi say rishta Kya, Jabri Qabza aur kya”.
A contingent of police and paramilitary forces stopped the march as it reached near the cantonment gate.
Before his arrest, Rasheed said that Beerwah and Pulwama incidents “are a slap on Indian Army and the myth of claim of being the most disciplined army has crashed yet again.”
“Using innocent unarmed civilians as human shields and beating Kashmiris in the worst miserable way, is not a new phenomenon in Kashmir but for the want of evidences Army would often negate the shameful incidents claiming it a propaganda of anti-national forces and Pakistani agents,” Rasheed said adding that the latest incident was exposed because of social media.
Rasheed appealed world community to wake up and stand by the human rights, self respect and dignity of Kashmiris, “which security forces have demolished deeming it their birth right”.
