Kashmir shuts against ‘atrocities’, restrictions in Batamaloo

Srinagar: A complete shutdown is being held in the Kashmir valley Sunday against the cold-blooded murder of a youth in Batamaloo area of Srinagar and ruthless beating of students at the hands of government forces in Pulwama.
Call for the shutdown was given by the joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.
All shops and other business establishments are closed while public transport is off the roads.
A 19-year-old boy Sajad Hussain was killed late last evening in Batamaloo area of Srinagar after according to locals a forces party opened fired on him.
Local sources said that heavy deployment of police and other government forces has been man in a round Batamaloo who were not allowing people to move out of their houses.
“Curfew like restrictions are in place in the area,” a local told Kashmir Reader over phone.
