Srinagar: Clashes between government forces and protesters erupted in north Kashmir’s Sopore town of Baramulla district soon after the Friday prayers, sources said.
Local sources said that scores of protesters starting raising pro-freedom and anti-India slogans after congregational prayers outside the Jamia Masjid.
The protesters were however, stopped by the heavy deployment of police and para-military forces triggering clashes.
Police used tear gas and PAVA shells against the stone pelting youth, sources said.
Intense clashes were going on when reports last came in.
