Shutdown in poll bound areas today: resistance camp

SRINAGAR: The joint resistance leadership including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has called for shutdown in poll-bound areas today.
“We hope people by giving befitting reply will reject this drama once again and boycott these elections with the same spirit as witnessed on April 9,” the leaders said.
They said the state administration has turned poll-bound areas into a military garrison “but our people are brave enough and with their exemplary strength and resolve will once again reject these sham elections”.
“Re-polling is one more deceit being orchestrated by the puppet regime and the main motive behind it is to increase the voting percentage through rigging and by using bogus voters,” they said.
The leaders have also called for a public gathering in Budgam on April 14 in memory of the eight youth killed on Sunday. “People while reaffirming their faith (Tajdeed-e-Ehad) with movement will offer condolences with the bereaved families of slain youth,” they said.
The leaders said people by boycotting the elections have conveyed that they are sensitive and mature enough in their political struggle. “It will support our case and prove positive for the ongoing struggle against occupation. We are sure it will impress the international community and compel it to take notice of the present development (in Kashmir) and also shake the conscience of the people in India,” the resistance leaders said.
