Srinagar: The seven parliament candidates for Srinagar-Budgam Lok Sabha constituency on Wednesday jointly called for boycott of the re-poll scheduled on Thursday.
The candidates said that they do not want the violence to re-occur that leads to killing of “our brothers”.
The seven candidates include state president of Rashtriya Jankranti Party (RJP), Mirza Sajad Hussain Beigh, Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha leader, Chetan Sharma, Rashtriya Samajwadi Party (Secular) leader, Engineer Sajad Reshi and Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) leader Bikram Singh, besides three independent candidates, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Ghulam Hassan Dar and Mehraj Rashid Malik. They announced the boycott at a press conference.
Sajad said that none of these candidates was taken into confidence for deciding re-polling in 38 polling stations.
