Kashmir valley shuts against civilian killings

Srinagar: A complete shutdown is being observed in the trouble torn Kashmir valley on Monday against large scale civilian killings during Sunday’s by-polls for Srinagar constituency.
8 civilians were killed and scores injured in government force’s actions in Budgam and Ganderbal districts.
The shutdown call has been given by joint pro-freedom leadership including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik.
All shops, business establishments and government offices are closed, reports from across the valley said adding traffic is also off the roads.
Government sources said that police and para-military forces have been deployed in large numbers to “maintain law and order.”
