Sopore: A delegation of Baramulla Working Journalists Association (BWJA) visited the residence of its member Adnan Dar whose sister died on Thursday. The delegation led by President Gulzar Ahmad Zargar expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
The deceased was working with the local branch of HDFC Bank as permanent employee since a year. On the sad demise of his sister, Adnan said that on Thursday their mother spotted the lady hanging with the ceiling. She had hanged herself with scarf.
“Police visited the spot and took the body into custody along-with the suicide note. After completion of their formalities, the body was handed over to the family for last rites,” said Adnan.
He said police have registered a case vide FIR no 82/2017 RPC U/S 306 and started investigation.
Adnan alleged that his sister (name with held) had mentioned the name of J&K cluster head HDFC, Showkat Nehvi in her suicide note that clearly states that the officer has harassed her compelling her to take the extreme step.
“Police are investigating the matter but the accused is roaming free and has not been arrested yet. There is something fishy and the top officials of the said bank are pressurizing the concerned agencies to evade his arrest,” Adnan alleged. “We want justice and police should arrest the culprit without any delay,” he said.
The members of BWJA unanimously decided that the association will not leave any stone unturned in providing justice to the bereaved family.
“The whole association is with Adnan Dar and we will activate all the concerned agencies to do a thorough probe into the matter and book the culprit without any delay,” BWJA said in a statement.
