SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Contractors Coordination Committee and amalgam of contractors in the State has decided to suspend its strike keeping in view the inclement weather and governments commitment to release Rs 100 crore.
Chairman of the committee Ghulam Jeelani Purza said that we have got assurance from the authorities that our payments will be cleared in a time bound a manner
“Immediately they will be releasing Rs 100 crores and have assured release of the rest amount,” he said.
He added that given the present inclement weather and a looming flood threat we have decided to suspend our strike.
The contractors in Kashmir had indefinitely suspended works on all major developmental projects after the government failed to release their pending bills amounted to Rs 300 crore.
The contractors had even locked the Engineering Complex at Rajbagh that had hit developmental activities in Kashmir as Valley.
