Bandipora youngster booked for assaulting doc

Bandipora:  Police have booked a youth in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district after he allegedly assaulted a doctor at the district hospital on Wednesday.
Police said the youngster identified as Shahid Maqbool Mir, a resident of Watapora, Bandipora was booked for punching and slapping an assistant
surgeon Dr Asrar Hussain during latter’s duty hours. The incident evoked strong reactions from doctors and paramedical professionals across the district. “It was an unprovoked assault on one of the dedicated and honest medicos,” one of protesting doctors said.
Dr Asrar said that he was caught unawares when the accused youngster assaulted him.
“I was coming out of a patient room when the youngster waylaid me and began asking questions on my duty schedule. There were three doctors in their chambers at that time,” he said adding that the doctors have been often victims of
hooliganism and rowdiness in the hospital.”
The doctors later filed a case against the youngster. Police Bandipora confirmed that a case under FIR No 41/ 2017 has been registered under sections 353,506 RPC. The accused has been held and lodged at Badipora police station.
