State University Championship: KU’s winning streak continues

SRINAGAR: Continuing its winning streak in the ongoing State University Championship at Jammu, Kashmir University’s men’s Volleyball team booked their place in the finals.
In the semis KU beat Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri in a closely contested match by 3-2.
The first two sets were won by Kashmir University while as next two by Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University and final set by university of Kashmir. Following the footsteps of boys team KU’s women’s volleyball team also qualified for finals by defeating Shri Mata Vishnu Devi University, Katra by 3-0.
Meanwhile KU’s cricket team also confirmed their place in semi final by comprehensively beating Central University of Jammu by 45 runs.
Batting first KU put a formidable total of 136 runs in allotted 12 overs as the match was reduced due to bad weather. Saabit scored 51 runs supported well by Irfan who scored 27 runs. In reply CU, Jammu was bundled for 91 runs.
For KU, Khalid Syed was the pick of the bowlers claiming four wickets.
Assistant Director, Physical Education and Sports, Nadeem Ahmad, who is incharge of the contingent said that It is total team effort which has helped us to achieve this feat. Both boys as well as girls are working hard to be the best and lift the trophy.
