Anantnag: A prominent south Kashmir leader and preacher Mirwaiz Qazi Ahmed Yasir on Wednesday said the government in a pre-planned manner was giving an impression that the promotion of Sufism will lead to peace in the Valley.
Talking to reporters at a press conference he said that for more than a month’s time, there was a campaign going on by which an impression is being floated that the promotion of Sufism will help in bringing peace in the valley. Even the top police officials like S M Sahai and police chief S P Vaid mentioned this assertion.
“It is being done under an agenda to divide the nation of Kashmir on sectarian lines,” Yasir said.
He said no division existed in the society on sectarian lines.”The only division amongst the people is whether they seek freedom or side with the state. We will never let anybody use Sufism for any agenda. The Sufis in this valley have always raised their voice against the atrocities”, Qazi Yasir said.
He said the upcoming by-elections were mere drama and it can never be a solution to the Kashmir issue.
“Elections won’t ever affect the disputed nature of Kashmir as everyone knows how these farcical elections are conducted. I personally support the Hurriyat’s boycott call,” he said.
Qazi Yasir also said that nobody in the valley was participating in pelting stones on forces against money.
