JKLF pursues door-to-door poll-boycott campaign

Srinagar: Various leaders and activists of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) defied restrictions to continue poll-boycott campaign in various parts of south and central Kashmir, according to a statement issued by the group. The JKLF leaders including Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Zahoor Ahmad Butt and Javed Ahmad Butt visited south Kashmir while as Mir Siraj ud din, Gulzar Ahmad Pahalwan and Pir Abdul Rashid visited central Kashmir areas including Trisal, Tenghar,Chandgam and Narpora in Pulwama and Shopian; Narbal, Magam, Mazhama, Kabhama, Kawoosa and adjacent areas in Budgam (central Kashmir) .
According to the statement, the activists went home to home, met people and asked them to remain vigilant and understand the importance of boycotting the Indian elections that are detrimental to the interests of Kashmir. They said the elections under Indian constitution were damaging to “our just cause and boycotting these farce elections is obligatory on all of us”.
They said that Kashmiris have rendered sacrifices and now is the time to safeguard these sacrifices. The statement said that JKLF’s incarcerated chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik paid tributes to Sajad Ahmad Shah on his 27th martyrdom anniversary. Paying rich tributes to his friend Sajad Ahmad Shah who embraced martyrdom in 1990, Yasin said that Sajad was a brave son of soil who strived and sacrificed his life for the freedom of Jammu Kashmir.
