Ajmer dargah head who supports beef ban, sacked

Srinagar: Days after the head of the Ajmer Sharif dargah, Zainul Abedin Khan, called upon Muslims to give up eating beef, his brother Alaudin Alimi announced his ‘removal’ as diwan of the shrine, media reports said on Wednesday.
Claiming support of the religious body that administers the dargah, Alimi went on to proclaim himself as the new diwan, reports said.
Khan had urged the government to ban the slaughter of all bovine animals and the sale of beef to promote communal harmony. He had also called for the cow to be named the national animal.
