Geelani, Mirwaiz stopped from offering Friday prayers

Srinagar: Hurriyat Chairmen Syed Ali Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq continuously stayed under house arrest on Friday.
Geelani, who has been under house arrest since 2010, was not allowed to offer Friday prayers, said a Hurriyat spokesperson.
Mirwaiz was also barred from attending prayers for the fourth consecutive Friday, a spokesman said.
“The arrogance of the authorities barring  Mirwaiz by force from leaving his house for the past four weeks, even to offer Friday prayers, completely exposes their claim of what they once called the ‘battle of ideas’ and reflects their vengeful and dictatorial mindset,” he said.
