SHRC questions guest control ‘diktat’

JAMMU: Justice (retd) Bilal Nazki, Chairperson State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has asked the government to submit a report disclosing the authority of law under which an order has been passed “imposing restrictions on injudicious use of essential commodities in social, government, private functions.”
According to a handout issued by the Secretary SHRC, Justice Bilal Nazki, while  taking  suo moto cognizance to a report published in a section of the press on March 30, 2017 under the caption “Imposition of restrictions on injudicious use of essential commodities in social/govt/private functions’’  directed the commissioner secretary to the government, department of food, civil supplies, consumer affairs and legal metrology to submit a report disclosing the authority of law under which the said order has been passed.
“Besides, advocate  general is requested to give his legal opinion to the Commission, so that Commission is benefited in finally disposing off the matter and as also Secretary Law is directed to file his response   in the matter,” the handout read.  The matter has been listed on May 18, 2017.
