Srinagar: Two youths were killed and 17 others sustained injuries after government forces fire bullets, pellets and tear smoke shells against protesters, mostly youths in central Kashmir’s Chadoora village on Tuesday.
The protesters hit the streets to help militants escape after a gunfight between forces and militants started in Zuin village of Budgam district.
Hospital sources told Kashmir Reader they received 19 injured in all including 23 year old Zahid Rashid and 1oth class student Aamir Fayaz. Both Zahid and Aamir died after hit by bullets. They said that other injured were being treated at SDH Chadoora and Srinagar hospitals adding one more youth sustained injury after hit by bullet was referred to Bone and Joint Hopital, Barzulla, Srinagar.
Local sources said that as soon as the gunfight started youths hit the streets and pelted stones on a CRPF party some two KMs away from the encounter site. Later, the clashes spread and angry youths tried to reach very close to the encounter site at least thrice.
Meanwhile, as per police sources, fierce gunfight was underway at Zuin village between the holed up militants and government forces.
Forces blasted the house which is used by the militants as a bunker and a part of it was in flames, they said.
