‘Best tribute to these martyrs is to completely boycott elections’
SRINAGAR: The chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Sunday paid tributes to Ishfaq Majeed Wani, Advocate Jaleel Andrabi, Dr Abdul Ahad Guru, and Shabir Sidiqi.
In a statement here, Shah said, “Shaheed Ishfaq Majeed Wani in his brief lifetime made the whole Kashmir rise against the Indian forcible occupation and became inspiration for thousands in no time. He is the hero of our freedom movement whose sacrifices are invaluable. History will always remember him.”
Paying tributes to Advocate Jaleel Andrabi, Shah said, “Indian rulers are responsible for his killing. He was martyred in army custody and Indian rulers instead of bringing the culprit Colonel Avtar to book left no stone unturned to protect him. As such, the human rights abuses committed by Indian forces were covered up. Shaheed Andrabi was an intellectual and a great personality who had dedicated his life to expose the human rights violations perpetrated by Indian occupational forces in Jammu and Kashmir.”
Shah said Dr Abdul Ahad Guru, apart from being a renowned doctor “was a hero of our freedom movement and ultimately sacrificed his life for the noble and great cause”.
“Shaheed Shabir Sidiqi belonged to a religious family and he will always be remembered for his contribution to Islam and Kashmir’s freedom struggle,” he said.
Remembering the martyrs of Kashmir, Shah said Kashmiris are committed to their mission “which will be accomplished at any cost”. “We are indebted to the sacrifices of our lakhs of martyrs and we will never succumb to the oppressive and suppressive policies of India and its occupational forces,” he said.
Shah said “the best tribute to these martyrs is to completely boycott the parliamentary elections”. “We have to send a clear message to world that killers and tyrants cannot be our representatives,” Shah said.
