Man accused of duping handed over to police

Baramulla: Residents of Kitchama and Uri in Baramulla handed over a man to police for allegedly duping many people from the area on the pretext of providing jobs.
Local residents alleged that one Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, a resident of Tulmulla Ganderbal, had duped many people in the area of their money, and gone missing from the area.
“On Saturday we spotted him at a village in Pattan and we bundled and brought him to Kitchama village where he had duped people of lacs of rupees and later handed him over to police.” Mohammad Yousuf Mir, a resident of Kitchama said.
According to local residents, Mushtaq has set up tailoring centres in the area, and then he began to promise secure jobs for youths in lieu of large sums of money.
After Mushtaq’s arrest, dozens of people from different villages visited police station Sheeri with complaints against him.
Bashir Ahmad, a resident of Tangmarg, said that he was duped of more than a lakh rupees on the promise of employment for his daughter six years ago and since then he was absconding.
Station house officer (SHO) Sheeri Faisal Ahmad Khan said that police has registered a case under FIR number 09/2017, under section 419,420,471, RPC in this regard and further investigation was going on.
