SRINAGAR: To review the developmental works and centrally sponsored schemes of Agriculture Department Kashmir, Financial commissioner Agriculture Production Department Pramod Kumar Jain chaired a high level meeting of the officers of Kashmir Division.
Director Agriculture Kashmir Showkat Ahmad Beigh, all Joint Directors of Agriculture and senior officers of the department attended the meeting. While displaying the power point presentation Director Agriculture highlighted the physical and financial achievements of various central and state sponsored schemes.
Financial Commissioner was informed that out of a target of 89780, 58278 soil samples were tested and 217909 soil health cards were printed.
Financial Commissioner emphasized upon the officers to gear up extension agency to reach the farmers fields for transferring technology and providing quality inputs to increase the production.
He also laid emphasis on integrated farming to raise the economic standards of farmers. Jain urged upon the officers to cover the remaining farmers under KCC scheme upto ending April 2017, so that they are benefitted well by the scheme.
Financial Commissioner took the stock of supply of Kharief seeds, availability of chemical fertilizers and was informed that Kharief seeds like paddy K448/ Shalimar Rice as per requirement are available at the sale centers, vegetable seed distribution is also in progress. Regarding fertilizers availability Jain was informed that there is no shortage of chemical fertilizers in any district across the valley.
Director Agriculture was instructed by the Financial Commissioner to give the financial requirement for upgrading the infrastructure in various districts.
