Srinagar: Authorities have banned the visiting of pro-freedom leaders to Pak High Commission in New Delhi to attend different functions, especially related to Pakistan, sources said on Wednesday.
Police have arrested or detained almost all the frontline pro-freedom leaders ahead of Pakistan Day, being celebrated on March 23. All the pro-freedom leaders, as always have been invited to attend the function.
However, this time authorities have decided not to allow pro-freedom leaders to celebrate Pakistan’s national festival.
Police sources said that they arrested National Front chairman, Nayeem Khan early today at the Srinagar airport.
Khan was to board a New Delhi flight to attend the Pak national day function scheduled on March 23.
Pertinently, Syed Ali Geelani is undergoing house detention since long however, whenever he wished to visit New Delhi, he was allowed. But sources said, authorities have this time decided not to allow him to leave Kashmir.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq is also undergoing house detention since one week and Yasin Malik is lodged in central jail Srinagar.
Police have also detained Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, Shabir Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Pir Saifullah and others to prevent them from visiting New Delhi and taking part in Pakistan Day, function.
