Kulgam: Unidentified persons threw stones at and injured three workers of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party during a ‘workers’ convention’ in Chawalgam village of Kulgam district on Sunday.
The convention was being held inside the premises of Dak Bungalow, Kulgam.
“As the convention was in progress inside the hall, some miscreants hurled stones on the roof of Dak Bunglow building from a distance which hit the workers present in the premises. Three workers sustained minor injuries,” said a worker, Ghulam Nabi.
Besides many local PDP leaders, rural development minister Haq Khan, Member Parliament Nazir Ahmed Laway and local MLA Abdul Majeed Paddar were also present at the convention when the assault occurred.
The injured were shifted to District Hospital Kulgam for treatment.
“Three persons were brought to our hospital with minor injuries and after providing them the first aid all of them were discharged,” said Superintendent District Hospital Kulgam Dr Roshan Din Kasana..
Traditionally considered as PDP bastion, south Kashmir was the epicenter of a massive uprising triggered by the killing of Hizb commander Burhan Wani last year.
