Awami Ittihad to decide on contesting by poll

Srinagar: The Awami Ittihad Party (AIP) led by Langate legislator Engineer Sheikh Rashid has set-up a 6-member committee to decide on taking part or skipping the upcoming parliament by-poll in Anantnag and Srinagar constituencies.
A party general council meeting presided over by Rashid held daylong deliberations at the party headquarters here to discuss the issue. “It was unanimously decided to nominate a six member committee including Rashid, Advocate Nazir Ahmad Malik, Dr Bari Nayak, Aadil Hussain, Inam un Nabi and Nissar-ul-haq to take a final call about the party’s participation or otherwise in upcoming poles,” an AIP spokesman said.
The AIP has contested parliamentary polls in the past but failed to make a mark.
