Expresses concern over proposed declaration of Gilgit Blatistan as fight province of Pakistan
SRINAGAR: JKLF (R) chairman Farooq Ahmad Dar (Bita Karete) has expressed serious concern about proposals of declaring Giglit Baltistan as fifth province of Pakistan and said that it will prove detrimental for Kashmir issue on international fora and weaken the “occupied status of state.”
In a joint statement issued on Thursday Karete said that people of Jammu and Kashmir are striving for right to self-determination and will never allow its division or annexing off its part or territory either to India or Pakistan.
“J&K entity as existed on August 1947 belongs to people of state and any division based on religion, sect or political interests is unacceptable,” the statement said.
“India is taking the political mileage by maligning the status quo and now the proposed adventure would boost and tempt India to claim its hegemony over occupied Kashmir.”
Stating that people in Jammu & Kashmir have always regarded and accepted the role of Pakistan as a party to the issue, the statement added that “it never means we will surrender our will and autonomy just to seek blessing of ruling elite.”
Referring to China Pakistan Economic Corridor, the two leaders said that “we as a suppressed nation were never consulted but it never means that Pakistan will ignore the aspirations of people of state. We see Pakistan as a party and benefactor but Giglit Baltistan issue will create fissures and none except India will take advantage out of this emerging situation.” They asked Pakistan to show wisdom and “desist from such steps which may hamper the political and geographical position of Jammu & Kashmir.”
