Hizb commander Zakir issues ‘last warning’ to police, informers

Srinagar: Hizbul Mujahideen’s top commander Zakir Bhat alias Musa has again threatened JK policemen and informers while warning of an upcoming “war” in the region in a video released online on Tuesday.
“Many people say the local policemen are our own. Don’t think they (policemen) are our brothers. They are supporting infidels and this is my last warning before the beginning of war,” Zakir says in the video.
Zakir, an engineering student before joining the militancy in 2013, also urged his supporters to reject looking at the United Nations Organisation (UNO) or United States (US) for a solution to Kashmir issue. Instead, he appealed to people to turn to Islam, a hint at the outfit’s change in stand. The militant outfit’s stand till now has been “preparing the ground for the implementation of UN resolutions” in Kashmir.
In the 12-minute long video circulated widely on social networking sites such as Facebook and Whatsapp, the 22-year-old militant commander sporting Pakol thanked locals for supporting militants and disrupting counter-insurgency operations. Zakir also appealed to youth to inform about movement of forces in their neighbourhoods by posting the information on social media.
“If they see the movement of government forces, they should post it on social media networks,” he said.
The militant commander has urged youth to self-introspect and shun Kashmiri ‘nationalism. “Don’t pick up stones for a nation or Kashmir. They (youth) should think before taking up stones in their hands that they are not doing it for nationalism or democracy. Both are not allowed in Islam,” Zakir says.
The young commander who took charge after his predecessor Burhan Wani was killed on July 8, 2016, in his monologue dismissed the idea of nationalism and democracy while calling everyone to turn towards Islam.
This is the third video message from the militant commander since last year. In the first two videos, he had made similar threats against Kashmir policemen and its ‘informers’.
