SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference (G) condemned the slapping of Public Safety Act (PSA) on the incarcerated Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) leaders Mohammad Rustum Bhat, Mohammad Yusuf Bhat and shifting Maulana Sarjan Barkati to central jail Srinagar instead of giving him medical treatment.
The Hurriyat condemned the state authorities for their ‘callous and insensitive policy’ against detainees and called it as ‘heartless and illogical’.
In a statement, Hurriyat (G) expressed displeasure over the silence maintained by World Red Cross, ICRC and international organization for human rights saying their negligence towards detainees is disheartening.
A spokesman said 70-year-old TeH leader Mohammad Rustum Bhat and Mohammad Yusuf Bhat were arrested during people’s uprising in 2016 and have not been released despite court orders.
Spokesman said that Molana Sarjan Barkati was arrested in October 2016, in Shopian. During the detention his condition deteriorated but he was denied any medical facility nor was he released to facilitate specific treatment, said the spokesman.
