SRINAGAR: In view of the attack on Central Reserve Police Force Personnel in Bastar area of Madhya Pradesh where 12 cops were killed in a Naxal attack on Saturday, the CRPF units in Kashmir have decided not to have Holi celebrations.
“We have decided not to celebrate the auspicious festival of Holi this time to express solidarity with the jawans killed in Sukma Maoist attack,” CRPF spokesman Rajesh Yadav told Kashmir Reader. He said the cops would not have festivities as a mark of tribute.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh has announced that he would not celebrate Holi festival in view of the attack on CRPF personnel and in solidarity with those killed in the ambush.
The CRPF personnel of 219th battalion were killed in the forest area near Kottacheru village, a Maoist hotbed in the state of Chattisgarh. According to officials, the Naxals also decamped with ten weapons including INSAS and AK series assault rifles and two radio sets during the attack.
