Wishing to see her jailed son, Muslim League leader’s mother passes away

Srinagar: Waiting for her jailed son, a mother in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district passed away Saturday morning.
Deceased was the mother of Muslim League leader Mohammad Rafiq Ganai, who is undergoing detention under draconian Public Safety Act since seven months.
Family sources of Ganai, a resident of Tailwani Anantnag, told Kashmir Reader that ailing Saja Bano wished to see her son but her last wish could not be fulfilled.
Ganai’s Council, Advocate Nasir Qari informed Kashmir Reader that his client, Ganai is lodged in Kot Balwal jail Jammu since last seven months.
“Surprisingly, government has failed to file objections to my petition challenging Ganai’s detention despite a notice stands issued from the Hon’ble court on Nov 15, 2016,” Qadri said.
According to Muslim League sources, Ganai’s mother was suffering from a fatal disease and the Anantnag district administration was aware about it.
“Still the administration slapped Ganai with PSA which exhibits the inhuman face of it,” a Muslim League spokesman said.
