Sgr-Jmu highway closes for 3rd consecutive day

Srinagar: The highway, connecting the Kashmir valley with rest of the world, remained closed for the third consecutive day Friday due to fresh snowfall and landslides, triggered by rain.
Landslides have damaged the highway at many places, sources said adding the repair work is underway however, intermittent rains and bad weather was hampering the work.
Reports said that hundreds of vehicles, including trucks and oil tankers, remained stranded at different places on the highway.
The Himalayan region is witnessing heavy to moderate rains and snowfall since last three days resulting in the landslides along the highway.
