Srinagar: As per the programme of Joint Resistance Leadership, the members of the J&K High Court Bar Association Srinagar Wednesday held a protest demonstration in the High Court premises and denounced the non-implementation of the Court orders vis-à-vis detenues and undertrial prisoners by the State authorities.
As per a statement while speaking to the members of the Bar Association, Mufti Mehraj-ud-din, Advocate, stated that the lawyers have always implemented the programme of the pro-freedom leadership and will continue to do the same in future, until the people of Kashmir get freedom from Indian “forcible occupation”. He also stated that the members are united in their pursuit to work for the freedom of Kashmir and will not hesitate in giving any kind of sacrifice for the sacred cause.
Qazi Abdul Ahad, Advocate, while stressing for the need for unity, amongst the members of the Bar, impressed upon them to plead the cases of detenues and undertrial prisoners with vigor. He also impressed upon the courts to get the orders passed by them implemented and also to proceed under Contempt of Courts Act against those who defy their orders and have no respect for the Rule of Law.
M. A. Qayoom, Advocate & President of the Bar Association also impressed upon the participants to remain united and work untirely for achieving the goal of freedom of Kashmir and also apprise the world community about the human rights violations, which are taking place in Kashmir in their true and correct perspective. He also stated that there are 19 prisoners lodged in Central Jail, Srinagar, who have been awarded life imprisonment by courts in militant related cases and despite there being a provision for placing their cases before the Review Board, neither their cases are referred to Review Board for release nor have they been released from custody, after completion of 20 years of imprisonment.
