Transfers leave girls schools without adequate female staff n Kangan

Ganderbal: Girls schools in Kangan have been left without adequate female teaching staff in the wake of recent mass transfer of teachers.
Sources said that at least six middle schools for girls  in Kangan zone have a higher number of male teachers against the norms.
They added that according to norms the number of male and female teaching staff should be as per the ratio of male and female students in the girls  schools.
“The girls middle school of our locality have only one female teacher and six male teachers for 70 female students and 30 male students,” local resdients at Barwula Kangan said.  “What is the fun for calling it ‘Girls school’ when there is not female staff for girl students. We were expecting posting of more female teachers than earlier but it has gone reverse after recent transfer system,” they said.
Other schools in the zone where the ratio of female staff was low are GMS Arhama, GMS Kangan, GMS Chhatergul, GMS Akhal, GMS Barwula and GMS Katchnmbal.
Zonal Education Officer Kangan Mohd Abdullah said that they were monitoring the situation after recent transfer.
“We are discussing the things seriously, the matter will be resolved as per norms,” Abdullah said. SDM Kangan G A Mir said the “issue was genuine and the same will be raised with concerned authorities”.
