Snow clearance starts to reconnect Sonamarg

Ganderbal: The Border Roads Organization (BRO) has started snow clearance operation to resume traffic on Srinagar-Sonamarg road. The BRO is maintaining the highway that connects Kashmir Valley with Ladakh region and passes through treacherous Zoji La pass. The BRO has pressed its men and machinery into service from Gagangir area to restore the road-link.
Officials said the snow clearance team, christened as Team-122 led by Captain Sumit Das under the supervision of OC (Officer Commanding) Subodh Kumar started with the snow clearance from km 75 Gagangir towards Sonamarg.
The stipulated time to open the road for traffic till Sonamarg will be of about 10 days if it doesn’t snows and weather is on our side” said the officials of the BRO.
The primary aim of the snow clearance is to reinstate the communication between Srinagar to Leh as soon as possible so that supply of goods and services resumes to the Ladakh region.
