Kashmiri driver held with cell phone at Chakoti, released

Baramulla: A day after Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have recovered arms and ammunition from a trade truck in Uri and arrested its driver, the authorities in other side of line of control claimed to have recovered a mobile phone and a SIM card from a Kashmiri driver in Chakoti trade centre on Wednesday.
Sources said the Trade Facilitation Officer Uri informed that a truck driver Mohammad Maroof Lodhi son of Bagh Hussain Lodhi of Chapper Shahdara Uri who crossed the LoC with a loaded truck bearing registration number JK05D 5306 was checked in the other side of LoC at Trade Facilitation Center Chakoti. The authorities on the other side of the LoC claimed recovery of mobile phone and a SIM card from him but later he was released. However the authorities on this side banned the driver for further trips across the LoC.
The Trade Facilitation Officer Salamabad Uri could not be contacted for his comments.
