Hizb commander’s aide held, say police

Srinagar: A close aide of Hizbul Mujahideen’s Divisional Commander Zakir Rashid aka Musa has been arrested by police at Dehwatoo, Gulzarpora in South Kashmir, police said on Thursday.
The militant, identified as Hilal Ahmad Bhat or Renzipora, was arrested after Awantipora and Pulwama police put checkpoints at several places after being informed about movement of militants.
According to police, arms and ammunition was also recovered from the militant who had been active in areas of Awantipora and Pulwama.
The police claims Hilal was also a close contact of Reyaz Naikoo aka Zubair ul Islam of the Hizbul Mujahideen outfit.
The police have registered a case FIR no 24/2017 under section 20/38 ULA act and 7/25 arms act in police station Awantipora.
According to police official posted in the area, the arrest is a significant breakthrough against the militant network in south Kashmir, where more than 30 militants are believed to be active currently.
Earlier in February, the police claimed to have arrested a local militant from Nowpora area of Pulwama and recovered a pistol and two grenades from him.
