SRINAGAR: All National Health Mission (NHM) employees association on Wednesday began pen-down strike for 72 hours sit inside Pratap Park at Srinagar.
The employees working under NHM including doctors, paramedics and management staff working for past nine years were demanding equal pay for equal work, regularization of services, social security benefits like EPF besides leave benefits.
“The NHM scheme was launched in J&K in April 2006 but no policy has been framed yet. We are around 1300 workers employed aimlessly and without caring for our future. The recent budget has also not included our genuine demands,” Abdul Raoof, spokesperson of the J&K NHM employees association said.
Raoof said the government was not serious about the future of 1300 NHM employees of J&K.
“Our state government has confirmed the services of all the contractual employees in terms of SRO 255 but no such policy or SRO has been framed for NHM employees,” he said.
