Warrant against police inspector for evading court appearance in murder case

SRINAGAR: Principal District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar Rashid Ali Dar issued non-bailable warrant against a police inspector who is a witness in a sensational murder case and conducted investigations.
The court also directed SP Budgam to withhold salary of the said inspector identified as Muzaffar Ahmed till the time he presents himself before the court. His statement has been partly recorded in the previous hearings but he later avoided completing his statement. .
The authorities produced one of the two accused, Imran Aslam Baba of Green Avenue Colony,
Illahibagh, before the court. The other accused Asim Ali was not produced because he was not in good health.
The duo is accused of killing their friend Asrar Mushtaq Dar, a resident of Maisuma locality in Srinagar civil lines, over a love triangle. The murder had triggered massive protests in Srinagar but police investigations found out that the murder was not related to counterinsurgency.
The accused under trials have spent 8 years at Central Jail Srinagar.
As per the police investigations, Imran Aslam Baba, 20, allegedly smashed the skull of Asrar Mushtaq Dar because he was jealous of Asrar’s ‘friendship’ with a Delhi girl on social networking site Orkut. He later dumped the body at Malkhah graveyard in old Srinagar.
The duo later confessed before the police that they killed Asrar in July 2009. As per their confession, police stated, on July 3, 2009 when Asrar had gone missing, Imran had called him to his home at Illahibagh where they hit him with an iron rod multiple times killing him on the spot. Later the duo kept his body beneath the bed for 4 days and locked the room.
Later on July 7, Imran took his maternal uncle’s car, Maruti 800(JK01F-3103) from Karanagar and dumped the body near old Malkah.
After 10 days of Asrar’s death, the case was cracked by police and till now the duo is lodged in Central Jail Srinagar.
