Srinagar: All J&K Students Union (AJKSU) in its statement has said that they stand with the students and professors of Ramjas College and other institutions in their fight to protect the right to free speech and dissent.
After the members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) unleashed rampant, hooliganism and violence in the North Campus of the University of Delhi in which students and teachers were assaulted and brutally beaten up, university property was also vandalised, the statement said.
As per the statement, Delhi police instead filing an FIR against assaulters, detained many peaceful protestors, who were demanding right to speech.
“The violence began with the ABVP’s disruption of an event organized by Ramjas Literary Society titled ‘Cultures of Protest’, on 21st February, Tuesday,” the statement said.
AJKSU Syed Tajamul Imran has talked with to the student activists from Delhi including Umar Khalid and has expressed his support to them, the statement added.
AJKSU has exhibited solidarity with students and professors who are demanding preservation of right to free speech and dissent.
