Pandits celebrate Herath with fervour

Srinagar: Mahashivratri, a festival of Hindus and celebrated by Kashmiri Pandits as ‘herath’ was observed in Kashmir with traditional fervor. The festival began with puja in the evening and continued throughout night. The festival marking the marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Uma is celebrated on the 13th day of the dark half of the month Phalguna.”It is an occasion to meet each other as a part of an informal gathering irrespective of caste and creed. The festival acts a bridge between people of different religions to come together,” said a Kashmiri Pandit.
