Fisheries stock valley streams with brown trout seed to boost angling

SRINAGAR: Fisheries department is carrying out stocking of brown trout seed at Harwan reservoir, to attract anglers to Kashmir streams
According to the Senior Project Officer Fisheries Srinagar, the Department has stocked water bodies at Harwan reservoir with brown trout seedlings to augment the requirement of angling which has huge potential in famous streams of National Park Dachigam.
He said that the Department is also stocking all the trout streams of Kashmir Division with quality brown trout seeds. He hoped that stocking would draw both domestic and foreign anglers to Kashmir Valley and provide boost to tourism as well.
Meanwhile, a fish sale was conducted by the Department of Fisheries today in Bandipora on the eve of Mahashivratri festival.
According to Assistant Director Fisheries Bandipora, main purpose of the fish sale was to provide different varieties of fresh hygienic fish to consumers especially Pandit community.
He said that about one quintal of fish was sold today at Kaloosa, Kharpora and Aajar in Bandipora
