SRINAGAR: A group of students pursuing diploma in various engineering streams on Thursday staged protest demonstration at press enclave against the State Board of Technical education (BOTE) for enforcing the new procedure of even-odd examination system.
The protesters said that the provision of exams for students with backlog was to re-appear at the end of the semester but now BOTE has set-up new rules to conduct the exam along-with the new batch. “This system is totally unjustified and would amount to spoiling of one academic year of the students,” they saiud.
The students said that the delay of the results of the 5th semester diploma students has also caused huge loss to them.
“Due to the lackadaisical attitude of the BOTE, our results are held up though we have written our examinations two months back, said a student Atif Ahmad.
“The state board of school education have declared the result of one lakh students in a one month but the State Board of Technical education (BOTE) have only 4000-4500 students and haven’t yet declared the results which clearly shows how irresponsible they are,” another student said.
The students also said the BOTE has cancelled the provision of the re-evaluation of papers. “We approached BOTE for the re-evaluation but the officials sent us back saying that there was no such provision available,” Ahmad said.
